Four Limbs: Outside the Pacific Northwest
Guitar supplied by venue
Third, since David can only fly with one guitar, he will need to rely on the hosting venue to supply just one thing: a guitar for his use during this song. The guitar that David will need to borrow must have the following specifications:
In the photo below, you will see that the only contact David makes with the guitar is on the strings. He uses a special “foot fretter” device with his left foot, and has duct-taped picks to his right foot for strumming the strings. A special cardboard shield protects the entire area around where his foot strums.
2) It must have an electronic internal pickup with a ¼” output jack (where the endpin would be) that allows for a ¼” cable to be plugged into it.
1) It must be a standard dreadnought-style acoustic guitar without a cutaway. The foot guitar cradle is designed with only this shape in mind. See an example below.
3. It must have fret markers, ideally on the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 12th frets.
4. It must have a squared back (not a round back, like Ovation guitars or similar.)
5. It must be in good working condition (the machine heads all turn well, the action is reasonably low, and the guitar stays in tune.)
6. David needs access to this guitar as soon as you can get it to him when he arrives in town. He will need to re-string it with his special string set, and apply the temporary cardboard shield to the top. It is ideal for David to have the guitar the day before the concert, and until he is finished with it. He will bring the guitar back to standard tuning once he is finished performing.
The photo to the right shows how your guitar will look after it is carefully placed in the foot cradle.

Financial arrangements
First, on the financial level, David will ship materials (listed below) to you via UPS Ground. To make this possible, David will need to have this expense paid by you. He will begin by shipping the equipment and paying the necessary fees up front (approximately $50.00.) Depending on whether you or David ship the two boxes back to David’s home, arrangements can be made for the remaining shipping balance (again, approximately $50.00) to be reimbursed to David, or simply paid by you as you ship the boxes back. This can be arranged in the Artist/Purchaser Agreement as a separate line item. Please note: if shipping these items is delayed until the last minute, and UPS needs to ship this equipment quickly (next-day air or second-day air), the fees go up drastically. It’s great to plan at least 7-10 business days ahead.
If you wish to make arrangements for David to play “Four Limbs” at your venue, and you are outside the Pacific Northwest, please contact Whitney Harsh at least 1 month in advance of the concert, by clicking here. Whitney will confirm your shipping address.
David will connect with you regarding the additional guitar. Then, you can wait for these two boxes (below) to arrive at your door. Note: please make sure your shipping address is one that UPS can deliver to. Some rural addresses are not eligible.
When he gets to town, David will assemble the stool and cradle, prep the loaner guitar, perform the song in the concert and/or church services for your group, and then he will disassemble the equipment and pack it all up again.
From the moment the song ends, people at your venue will be talking about this song for a long time to come!

Since July 25, 2004, David has been wowing audiences around the Pacific Northwest as he plays two guitars at the same time in his signature song “Four Limbs.” If you haven’t seen “Four Limbs” in action, please click here to watch it.
Until February of 2008, this exciting song could only be performed at venues that David drove to (mostly in Washington and Oregon.) Now it’s possible for him to play it anywhere in the continental United States, with a little help from the hosting venue, and only about $100 to ship materials both ways via the United Parcel Service (UPS.)
On this link, you can learn how to make it possible for David to perform “Four Limbs” when he flies to your venue. For this exciting song to be performed, David has just a few needs. Please read on...

Practical arrangements
Second, on the practical level, David has some special equipment that he needs to ship to you. Here’s what’s involved.
David uses a special, customized stool with precisely-measured notches, reinforced with stainless steel. This stool is bolted to a custom cradle which holds a guitar that he plays with his feet. (He will need to borrow a guitar for this to happen. Please scroll down to learn more.)
In the picture to the right, you’ll see David’s normal “Four Limbs” stool on the left. Immediately to the right, you’ll see his new collapsible stool that measures the same height, but can be broken down a much smaller size which can be shipped in a smaller box.
For those who wish to know, there are 90 integral pieces that David ships to the hosting venue (all in 2 medium-sized boxes) that make it possible for him to play “Four Limbs” out of state. Here’s his exhaustive checklist, along with a picture:
